Lesley Tate of the Craven Herald has been looking at the plans made in the 1970s for the reorganisation of the county boundaries. In February, 1971 the Craven Herald revealed how the two peaks of Ingleborough and Whernside could end up in Lancashire - because the parishes of Chapel-le-Dale and Ingleton were to be taken from the Settle Rural Council. Pen-y-ghent, the smallest of the 'Three Peaks', was to remain in Yorkshire and be part of the ‘North Riding’ district.
